The Environmental Education Center (E.E.C.) of Kalamata was founded with the collaboration of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, the Municipality of Kalamata and the Prefectorial Self-administration of Messinia in November 1997 and started working in January 1999.

The Municipality of Kalamata allotted the building of 960 sqm altogether and supports the Center with its technical services until 2015.The financial management is assigned to the National Institution of Youth.

The Ministry of Education finances the Center through the communal framework of support ESPA and provides the teaching personnel.
